Queen West Stage Series

Art, diversity, multiculturalism and community are some of the major elements that make Toronto special. Queen West is proud of this, and it is reflected especially through music!

The Queen Street West BIA has taken pride in hosting community events which include live music performances, markets, pop-up shops and community mixers.

Where is the stage located?
  • beside 486 Queen St W in the "Denison Parkette"
  • a prebuilt stage platform was completed in 2018 as part of a streetscape project done with the Queen Street West BI and the City of Toronto

Why is this series important?
  • Creates an accessible (no cost) concert series for the community and beyond to experience and enjoy different genres of music
  • It provides employment and artist opportunities.
  • Animates the public space to make visitors feel welcome.
  • Connects us all together for an afternoon, no matter what our backgrounds or stories are.

What genres of music were featured?
  • Reggae
  • Tribute Bands
  • Rock
  • Groove / Ambient
  • Jazz
  • Indie Rock

Project Duration:

  • Six (6) concert dates from June to September were held at the Denison Parkette on Saturdays.

How is this funded?
  • The Queen Street West BIA were successful recipients of the My Main Street Community Activator initiative!  Thank you to Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev) and Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) for supporting local communities and revitalizing main streets.

Land Acknowledgement
The City of Toronto acknowledges that what we now call Toronto is on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The City also acknowledges that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.

African Ancestral Acknowledgement

The City of Toronto acknowledges all Treaty peoples – including those who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past - and those of us who came here involuntarily, particularly those brought to these lands as a result of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and Slavery. We pay tribute to those ancestors of African origin and descent
